We've rebranded! THEY.dev is the new home of TH-EY

Sometimes you don’t need a whole new team. You need two senior React developers by next Monday. A QA engineer who actually understands your codebase or a designer who can hit the ground running without three weeks of onboarding.

That’s team augmentation. We plug our specialists directly into your existing team, your tools, your workflow. They work like your people, because for the duration of the engagement, they are.

What is Team Augmentation?

Team augmentation is the simplest engagement model we offer. You have a team. You have a project. You need more hands, specific skills, or both.

Instead of spending 3 months hiring (and hoping the person works out), you bring in our specialists. They join your standups. They push to your repo. They follow your conventions. The only difference? They’re backed by the wider THEY.dev team and our 60+ projects worth of experience.

No separate project management layer. No “status update meetings about status update meetings.” Direct communication with the developers doing the work. That’s how we’ve always operated, and our clients stick around for 3+ years because of it.

When team augmentation actually makes sense

Not every problem needs a new hire. Here's when borrowing ours is the smarter move.

  • You need skills your team doesn't have

Your backend team is solid, but nobody’s touched React Native. We fill specific technical gaps without the 6-month recruitment cycle.

  • The deadline moved and the scope didn't

It happens. A client wants delivery two months earlier, or a competitor forces your hand. Adding experienced developers who don’t need babysitting is faster than any recruiter can move.

  • You need flexibility, not headcount

Hiring permanent staff for a 6-month push makes no sense. Augmented team members scale with your project. When the sprint is done, so is the engagement. No awkward conversations.

  • Your team could use a senior perspective

Sometimes the gap isn’t headcount, it’s experience. A senior developer or architect working alongside your team raises the bar for everyone. Code reviews, architectural decisions, mentoring.

  • You've got more work than people

The product roadmap has three features that all need to ship this quarter. Your team can handle two. We take the third. Same standards, same repo, same definition of done.

  • Someone critical is leaving (or already left)

Key person dependency is real. When your lead developer hands in their notice, you need cover fast. Not “we’ll start interviews next week” fast. “They’re in your Slack on Monday” fast.

How It Works

We keep this simple. No 47-page proposals. No discovery phases that cost more than the actual work.

  1. Tell us what you need: A 30-minute call. You tell us the roles, the tech stack, the timeline. We tell you honestly if we can help, and how quickly. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll say so. Free consultation, no strings.

  2. Meet the people: Within days, not weeks, we’ll introduce you to the actual humans who’d join your team. Not CVs. Not profiles. Real conversations so you can judge fit for yourself. You pick who works with you.

  3. Onboarding: Your tools, your access, your processes. We’ve done this enough times to know what questions to ask upfront. Most of our people are productive within the first week, not the first month.

  4. They’re part of your team: Daily standups, code reviews, sprint planning. Whatever your team does, ours do too. You manage priorities directly. No middleman, no “account manager” filtering every conversation. Just direct access to the people doing the work.

  5. Scale, extend, or wrap up: Need more people? We’ll ramp up. Project winding down? We’ll ramp down. No long-term lock-in. Weekly invoicing based on actual hours worked. You pay for what you use.

We're a 25+ person team across UK and Poland. Here's who's ready to join yours.

Need a CTO but not full-time?

Not every company needs a CTO five days a week. But every company building software needs someone making the hard technical calls: architecture decisions, tech stack choices, team structure, technical debt priorities.

Our CTO currently serves as Fractional CTO for startups alongside leading THEY.dev’s technical direction. That’s not a side project. It’s a deliberate service we offer because we’ve seen what happens when growing companies try to wing it without senior technical leadership.
